Penn Womens BBall / Jordan

Penn Women’s Basketball recap

Coming into Friday’s game against the Bulldogs of Yale, the Penn women’s basketball team had drug their feet, with a disappointing 1-14 start to the season. The Quakers are in the process of a rebuilding year with the acquisition of a new coaching staff headed by Mike McLaughlin, who had achieved the highest winning percentage in women’s college basketball.

The Bulldogs got off to a quick start with a lead of 21-10. The Quakers only managed to hit a free throw over a span of 7 minutes during the Yale run. The Quakers were looking to find their stride as the first half winded down when Jess Knapp hit a put back at the buzzer to shorten the Bulldogs lead to 26-16.

In the second half the Quakers pulled to within 4 with about six minutes to go. That was as close as Penn would get as the Bulldogs held on tight to the lead. Penn’s Buscar hit a 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining to make the score 56-51. The Bulldogs tacked on 2 more to win 58-51.
